How to Headhug
Headhug is in its beta phase, thus we beg your patience as we work out the bugs and get this baby going. As the weeks progress, it will look more and more polished, user friendly, and professional. As for now, have at it, and don’t be afraid to send us note if you run into any difficulties or have any suggestions to make the Headhug a better experience.
Headzine: The Headzine is an Internet magazine published every month. It will showcase the top rated item of each category. When Headhug moves beyond the beta phase, we will send regular invitations to professional agents, editors, and publishers to visit the Headzine in hopes to
Visitors 10%
Account Holders 30%
Editors 60%
Your overall score will be calculated like this example:
Visitors 4.2 × .10 = .63
Account Holders 3.8 × .30 = 1.33
Editors 4.1 × .6 = 2.05
Overall Rating 4.01
Headspace: This is essentially a hybrid of a creative workshop and a perpetual competition. If you have an account with headhug, you can upload your creative works to this space where they can be viewed, commented on, reviewed, and rated. The top rated item in each category will then be featured in the Headzine for an entire month and have its place in the Headhug archives for all eternity!
Categories: If you have an account with Headhug, you can upload items under the following categories:
1. Short Stories
2. Flash Fiction (short story consisting of less than 500 words)
3. Poetry (coming soon)
4. Songs
5. Photography
6. Graphic Art/Design
7. Comic Strips
8. Animation/Flash Videos (Not available on the beta version of Headhug)
Comments: If you like someone’s creation, tell them what you like about it. Please refrain from tacky text writing in your comments (For example: lol, omg, pwn, and so on).
Reviews: In the Headspace, you can write reviews of other people’s work, and receive reviews of your work. A review is different than a comment. It should be a much more thorough appraisal of the creation with abundant praise, specific lines cited, detailed explanations of your impressions, concise questions that the piece of work left you with, and positive suggestions for improving the work. Be honest but constructive when you review someone else’s work. Unnecessary discourtesy or antagonism can result in suspension or banning from headhug.
To encourage the perpetual progress of Headhug, we ask that you write two reviews before you can upload any one piece of creative work. As a new user, you will get one free upload, but then you have to work for your uploads.
Headhugs: At headhug, we hope to create a community of mutual admirers. If you find yourself weeping with joy, lost in thought, or laughing until your belly hurts upon experiencing someone’s creation, you can hug their head and become their fan. This is just like bookmarking an artist or adding them to your "favorites" list. You can then track their other creations, create a network with them, or just be their friend.
Towards the future: As Headhug progresses beyond the initial beta phase, we hope to add better services including a user profile page, a discussion forum, better graphics, a more user friendly interface, and lots of links to helpful websites and other resources. Until then, enjoy your Headhug.
